Im Jordantal kommt ein Palästinenser durch eine Landmine ums Leben. Nähere Umstände später. Bei anhaltenden Gefechten zwischen israelischen Bodentruppen und palästinensischen Milizen wird im Flüchtlingslager al-Bureij ein palästinensischer Zivilist erschossen. Bei den Kämpfen werden weitere vier Personen verletzt. Durch einen nahen Treffer mit einer "anti-Panzer-Rakete" werden zwei israelische Soldaten leicht verletzt.

Katyusha, Part V: Am heutigen Sonntag ist in der israelischen Presse das totale Durcheinander ausgebrochen. Während die Haaretz die vorherige Iran-Bezichtigungsorgie zum Teil dementiert: "Government sources said Sunday that the Katyusha, fired last Thursday, was not an Iranian-made model but rather a Russian-made GRAD-type model. [Grad ist im Übrigen auch Blödsinn, denn das ist der Launcher und solche Launcher unterhält die Hamas nicht.] Auch egal, denn es kommt auf etwas anderes an: [It] marks a grave escalation in terror activities from the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Sunday. Nochmal der Unterschied: Schmuggelware ist für den Gazastreifen schwer zu bekommen und sicher nicht in größerem Umfang. Technische Fortschritte der palästinensischen Raketenbauer stellen eine sehr große Gefahr dar. Denn wer eine bauen kann, kann auch viele bauen. Solange es die Raketen jedoch nicht regnet muß von einem Zufallsprodukt geredet werden. In dem verlinkten Bericht werden meine heute Nacht beschriebenen Aktivitäten der IDF bestätigt: "Israel is planning to continue with its ground raids up to 3 km inside Gaza and with air strikes on senior militants." Planning ist falsch, man agiert bereits.

Wie ich hier berichten durfte hat sich blogger Alex vom Landis-Blog einen Namen als Kunstschaffender in Sachen Falschmeldung gemacht. Die Falschmeldung ist so echt das sie seit Stunden in der Orginalversion auf den Webseiten der WashingtonPost über den "feedburner" vorgehalten wird. Da ich bei Landis weise Fuchs-Worte absondern durfte freut mich das besonders. Wahrscheinlich haben die Leute bei der Post gedacht... "wo der shual dabei ist KANN nur die Wahrheit stehen". [har-har] Und noch ein schönes Beispiel wie degeneriert derzeit die Berichterstattung in Israel daher kommt. Wieder Haaretz: "A leading Palestinian militant was hiding under a house where the IDF detonated seized explosives on Saturday. But he was pulled out the rubble unharmed and paraded through the streets on the shoulders of cheering supporters." Im Unterschied zu den Propagandaexperten der Gegenseite scheinen israelische "Berichterstatter nicht zu verstehen das "Waffenfunde in Häusern in die Luft sprengen" nicht die Krönung eines lustigen Betriebsausflugs darstellt, sondern schlicht konventions- und verantwortungsloses Handeln ist. Der Versuch die Palästinenser als verschworene Mörderbande darzustellen hernach ist billigste Propaganda.

Vollkommen wahrheitsgetreu und solide ist die lesenswerte Zusammenstellung über die Aussichten Syriens für 2008 - 2009. Weapons trafficking in the West Bank city of Bethlehem has increased significantly in the last two months, the director of the Palestinian intelligence service for Bethlehem, Muhammad Ghanayim told Ma'an. The intelligence service has also confiscated large amounts of weapons from Hamas and detained numerous Hamas members in the city, he said. He said Hamas' relative strength in Bethlehem is equal to other West Bank cities. Ghanayim however said that while the quantity of weapons moving through the area has increased, the equipment seized by Palestinian authorities is traditional, suggesting that Hamas fighters have not gained access to advance weaponry. Während der Pressekonferenz werden weitere 35 Hamas-Waffenschieber inhaftiert, darunter ein Journalist, ein Uni-Dozent, ein Anwalt, Hamas-Politführer Sheikh Hussein Abu Kwaik und Sheikh Faraj Rummana. Die beiden letzteren, zuvor Anfang November noch als offizielle Delegation bei Abbas waren hernach Mitte November bei dem Versuch eine Anti-Annapolis-Pressekonferenz abzuhalten verhaftet worden. Abu Kwaik hatte traurige Berühmtheit erlangt, als eine gewisse Ordnungsmacht durch einen Apatche-Angriff am 4.3.2002 auf sein Auto seine komplette Familie extralegal hinrichtete [Frau, drei Kinder]. Kwaiks Ausspruch "Die benehmen sich wie die Israelis." ist durchaus Ernst zu nehmen. Zur Substanz des Annapolistreffens gehörte die durchaus richtige Annahme eine nationale Wiedervereinigung könne über ein Erstarken der rammalahnischen Macht im politischen und wirtschaftlichen Sinne umgesetzt werden. Die Verhaftung Abu Kwaiks zeigt jedoch das die rammalhner keineswegs auf dem Weg sind "Institutionen zu reformieren", sondern dem alten Spiel frönen poltische Gegner ohne Rechtsgrundlage dingfest zu machen. Summiert man die Ereignisse 2008 kommt man zu dem Resultat das eine weitere Erosion statt finden, die kohärent zum auftauchen des Friedensesels Bush zu sehen ist. Jeder will nochmal den starken Max machen. Eine einzige Enttäuschung.

"We are facing a shortage, because the fuel needed is not there, so we have decided to reduce the amount of electricity that we supply and to have a gradual program, starting from today, of cutting the electricity for eight hours every day," Obeid said." Da es sich um ein EU-finanziertes "Projekt" handelt, jedoch ein Beschluß der EU Sanktionen über den Gazastreifen zu verhängen aussteht handelt es sich hier um eine Rechtsbeugung unverschämten Ausmaßes durch die EU-Politik. Das Schlimme ist aber nicht etwa die Dekret-Politik der Angelas + Co., sonder der Fakt das die Gelder weiterhin fließen. Die israelischen Energieversorger freuts.

The Israeli government approved on Sunday the reestablishment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, four years after it had been dismantled. Fifteen government members voted for the decision and only six against. Two ministers abstained. Yitzhak Cohen (Shas) will be the new religious affairs minister.

The Winograd Commission probing the conduct of the Second Lebanon War announced on Sunday that it would present its final conclusions on Wednesday, January 30. The panel also said it would send the findings to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert prior to a final release to the public.

The Housing Ministry is pushing forward with the construction of more than 1,000 residential units in East Jerusalem's Har Homa neighborhood on land held by "absentee" Palestinians from the Bethlehem area. The move is in violation of both an instruction from the attorney general to stop applying the absentee law in East Jerusalem and explicit promises to the U.S. not to apply that law in the capital's eastern quarters.

Gideon Levy, "A hosile president": George Bush is coming to Israel this week. He will take pleasure in his visit. One can assume that there are few prime ministers with a giant photo of themselves with the U.S. president hanging on the wall in their home, as our Ehud Olmert boasted last week that he does, to his exalted guest, the comic Eli Yatzpan. There are also few other countries where the lame duck from Washington would not be greeted with mass demonstrations; instead, Israel is making great efforts to welcome him graciously. The man who has wreaked such ruin upon the world, upon his country, and upon us is such a welcome guest only in Israel.
