Etwa 200 Meter innerhalb israelischem Gebiet in der Nähe des Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha wurde am morgen durch eine ferngezündete "Roadsidebomb" ein israelischer Soldat getötet und drei weitere verletzt. Auf palästinensischer Seite bekennt sich der Islamic Jihad zu der Attacke. Sechs Qassam-Raketen und vier Mörsergranaten werden am Donnerstag morgen auf grenznahe Bereiche abgeschossen. In der Nähe von Jabalia tötet ein Luftangriff einen Palästnense, ein weiterer wird verletzt. Unter den zehn in der Nacht Verhafteten in der Westbank zählt auch der Mitbegründer des Islamic-Jihad, Sheikh Khalid Jarada aus Jenin, der damit bester Hoffnung ist seine 16 Verhaftungsjahre in israelischem Gewahrsam bald voll zu bekommen. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert believes negotiations with Syria should be seriously considered "if this would bring an end to its involvement in terrorism and extricate it from the axis of evil." Speaking at a briefing on the situation in the South to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday, Olmert said that the Syrian leadership is aware of his position. Jordan's lower house of parliament has voted to reject an article in a temporary electricity law that allows the government to engage in a regional power grid in which Israel is a part, local newspapers reported Thursday. The proposal rejecting energy cooperation with Israel was introduced Wednesday evening by deputies from the Islamic Action Front, Jordan's largest political party.
